……………………………… Aurobindo Ghose was a visionary who combined in him unique qualities of the mind and the divine spirit. He was a servant , philosopher and spiritualist, with an uncanny grasp of the future.
He was born in Calcutta and received his early education from an English family and went to Cambridge for the classical Tripos. Later, passed the Indian Civil Service examination with record marks in Greek and Latin.
Aurobindo was a revolutionary who hinted at armed rebellion as a way to India’s liberation. He considered Western democracy unsuitable for India . After the partition of Bengal in 1905, Aurobindo came fully into public life. He edited Bande Mataram while taking simultaneous interest in politics ,yoga,literature, and teaching. His one of the best creation is ‘ Sabitri’ a jewel-novel . As one of the Nationalists led by Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Aurobindo clashed headlong with the Moderates in the Congress. Aurobindo was implicated in Alipore bomb case in 1908. While in jail, he experienced cosmic consciousness and saw the vision of Krishna. He withdrew into yogic life in Pondicherry despite efforts by Tilak and other Nationalists to get him to lead the Congress.
